I had a remarkable first-use with the green tabs on my drive back from Borrego to Los Angeles. I stopped in Temecula with half a tank of gas and used 3 tabs in my 15 gallon tank while filling it back up to completely full. Typically my car will show about 316 miles of estimated range after filling it completely. That’s based on what kind of mileage my car typically gets, which is about 20-22 mpg on the highway and anywhere between 14-16 in the city. In 2014 when it was new, my RDX was supposed to get 19 city and 24 hwy. It’s never really lived up to that, but has certainly gotten worse with age, different tires etc.
Within a couple minutes of getting back onto the highway to drive the remaining 80-90 miles back to LA, I started to notice an improvement in performance and an even more remarkable read out of the kind of mileage I was getting. My car will obviously always show better gas mileage performance when doing more downhill travel, but I was shocked to continuously see my mpg readout rise, regardless of the slope. Uphill, downhill and flat all showed range improvements as I continued.
For the entirety of my drive back, my mileage continued to improve and leveled out at around 28 mpg. That included quite a bit of stop-and-go as I got closer to LA. When I was about 30 min outside of LA, I checked my range estimator and it still showed 314 miles of range and I had barely used a quarter tank of gas... After being back in LA now and driving around locally, Im still sitting at 24 mpg. Very excited to see how it continues to perform after these initial 3 first uses. Will keep you posted!
